In dit modeltekenatelier i.s.m. Middelheimmuseum bekijk je modellen vanuit een queer perspectief. Kunstenaar Caro Orcaro, bekend van haar Queer Love Drawing-workshops, doet je in drie sessies anders kijken naar het menselijk lichaam én naar modeltekenen zelf. Vandaag beginnen we met een video installatie : Interview with a Notorious Wild Cat.

Interview with a Notorious Wild Cat (2021) is een video-installatie over een mysterieus, geslachtshybride wezen; half mens, half lynx. In een dertien minuten durend interview vertelt het over hun ervaring van het eigen lichaam. Wat betekent het om zo'n tussenfiguur te zijn? En hoe beleeft dit wezen hun lichaam en vrouwelijkheid? Het werk onderzoekt hoe het is om te leven in een lichaam dat nergens helemaal bij hoort – vrouwelijk, dierlijk, menselijk, maar nooit volledig één daarvan. Het is een lichaam in verandering: iets dat zich vormt, groeit en zoekt naar ruimte. Het wezen zit gevangen in een loop van 'anders zijn'; het voelt zich niet echt thuis in hun lichaam, maar onderzoekt het toch. Het is tegelijk aantrekkelijk en vreemd, een bron van trots én schaamte, iets wat nooit helemaal vastligt. Deze installatie nodigt uit tot anders kijken naar lichamen, identiteit en wat het betekent om ergens tussenin te bestaan.

In this model drawing workshop in collaboration with Middelheim Museum, you will look at models from a queer perspective. In three sessions, artist Caro Orcaro, known for her Queer Love Drawing workshops, makes you look differently at the human body and at model drawing itself. Today we will start with a video installation: Interview with a Notorious Wild Cat (2021).

Interview with a Notorious Wild Cat (2021) is a video installation about a mysterious, gender hybrid creature; half human, half lynx. In a thirteen-minute interview, it talks about their experience of their own bodies. What does it mean to be such an in-between being? And how does this creature experience their body and femininity? The work explores what it is like to live in a body that doesn't quite belong to anything - female, animal, human, but never fully one of them. It is a body in flux: something that forms, grows and searches for space. The creature is caught in a loop of ‘being different’; it doesn't really feel at home in their body, but explores it anyway. It is at once attractive and strange, a source of both pride and shame, something that is never quite fixed. This installation invites a different look at bodies, identity and what it means to exist somewhere in between.
