Samuel Baidoo
Samuel Baidoo is a maker, performer and mentor. In their individual practice, they connect autobiographical experiences with a wide range of forms and working methods. Their work often begins with the intuitive creation of a new archive filled with images, fragments of text, film stills, documentaries, pieces of music, or excerpts from series, films, games and manga. Sharing this archive continually reveals new material to work with. Through association and connection, Samuel engages with the world around them.
Samuel works from their own practice, but also creates commissioned performances and is one of the artistic leaders of the artists’ collective Hanafubuki. In recent years, Samuel has collaborated with Agostina D’Alessandro, Tuur Marinus, Kopergietery/Lola Bogaert, tout petit and Michiel Vandevelde, among others. They also mentor dance students at the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp each year.
