THE ELJADID SISTERS BRYN + MARTHA DA'RO
The Eljadid sisters (BE) will team up for AQAF 2020. Fusing beatbox, song and spoken word, Hind and Zahra discovered each other all over again. They are happy to share this experience with you this summer!
Brussels based singer-songwriter BRYN (BE) followed his musical dreams, against the advice of his teachers and parents, who wanted to push him into academic studies. He started writing songs at age eleven, and when after fleeing Rwanda he ended up in a Flemish asylum center, he taught himself how to play the guitar and later on the synthesizer. He regularly played his compositions to a friend there, who used to call him “The Brain” as a way to encourage him, which led to the name BRYN (pronounced “brain”). At AQAF the 20-year-old will present music from his upcoming EP – the first single A Degree is out now. Expect heavy pop sounds inspired by artists such as Lorde and Tove Lo.
Actress and singer Martha da Rossa Canga Antonio (BE) is an all-round talent. She was the revelation of the film Black by Adil El Arbi and Billal Fallah, but apart from acting she writes, she sings and she directs her own music videos. With the hip-hop collective Soul’Art she released two EP’s, but since 2018 she’s going solo under the name Martha Da’ro. Even with only a handful of singles she played at Couleur Café, Dour and Pukkelpop, convincing everyone of her talent. This year she released her EP Cheap Wine & Paris with an international sounding fusion of soul and R&B. Her unique smooth voice will effortlessly draw you into her dreamy universe.
