CoZine: Semiotics & Semantics on Fascism

A collective reading and collage-making workshop by CoZone Collective

How does fascism shape language, meaning and the ways we understand the world? And how can we reclaim these signs and meanings for ourselves?

In this three-hour workshop, Brussels-based independent political and queer collective CoZone Collective (@cozonebxl) invites participants to explore the language and symbols through which authoritarian and fascist structures seek to control, exclude and erase.

Drawing on CoZine n°1: Semiotics & Semantics on Fascism, the workshop begins with a shared archive of texts, images, definitions and other materials. Through collective reading and conversation, participants will examine how language and systems of meaning can be used to restrict the existence of certain groups and how these mechanisms can be challenged.

In the second part, participants will turn these materials into a collective act of reappropriation. Using collage, they will cut, combine and transform words and images, developing their own visual responses to the questions raised during the workshop. The resulting collages will be scanned and brought together in a printed zine, creating a shared publication that captures the ideas, perspectives and creations emerging from the session.

A space for collective reflection, critical imagination and creative resistance.
