A Night Called Quest is terug! Op vrijdag 29 en zaterdag 30 augustus opent De Studio haar cultuurseizoen met een explosie van queer creaties. Dompel je onder in een trip doorheen performances, beeldende kunst, poëzie, dans, installaties en muziek. Elf jonge makers nemen je mee in hun werelden tijdens dit festival-in-een-festival.
A Night Called Quest is back! On Friday 29 and Saturday 30 August, The Studio will open its cultural season with an explosion of queer creations. Immerse yourself in a trip through performance, visual art, poetry, dance, installations and music. Eleven young creators take you into their worlds during this festival-within-a-festival.
2024
Welkom op de eerste editie van A Night Called Quest, een gloednieuw festival waar jonge queer makers je alle hoeken van De Studio laten zien. Tien kunstenaars overrompelen je vanavond met performances, poëzie, beeldende kunst, installaties, muziek,... Het voor- en naprogramma verzorgen ervaren podiumkunsten Fleur Pierets, SARJON, Elmer en Maxime Dreesen.
Welcome to the first edition of A Night Called Quest, a brand new festival where young queer creators will show you all the corners of The Studio. Ten artists will overwhelm you tonight with performances, poetry, visual art, installations, music,... Experienced performing artists Fleur Pierets, SARJON, Elmer and Maxime Dreesen will take care of the pre- and post-programme.
Het Project
Al enkele jaren op rij kregen we lovende feedback van de jongeren die deelnamen aan ons Queer Lab. De nood om in een veilige context ideeën en ervaringen te kunnen uitwisselen, op onderzoek te gaan en uitgedaagd te worden was duidelijk bij vele jonge queer makers. In samenwerking met BRONKS, Entrepot, 30CC, De Studio en Queer Leuven schakelen we nu een niveau hoger. Acht projecten gaan voor vier weken in residentie in verschillende Vlaamse steden, met collectieve feedbacksessies en coaching op maat. Hun artistieke onderzoeken monden uit in de avond A Night Called Quest.
The Project
For several years in a row, we received wonderful feedback from the young people who participated in our Queer Lab. The need to exchange ideas and experiences, to explore and be challenged in a safe environment was evident among many young queer artists. In collaboration with BRONKS, Entrepot, 30CC, De Studio and Queer Leuven, we are taking it to the next level. 8 projects will go into residency for 4 weeks in different Flemish cities, with collective feedback sessions and customized coaching. Their artistic experiments culminate in the evening A Night Called Quest.
